Site Plan Overview
The Site Plan Designer is your interactive canvas for mapping out security camera systems. It allows you to draw out floor plans, place hardware, and map out your cable paths all in one place.
How to Open the Site Plan
Section titled “How to Open the Site Plan”To start designing, open your project and locate the layout buttons:
- Open the Page: Click or tap the Site Plan button located at the top of the Project Details dashboard.
Exploring the Interface
Section titled “Exploring the Interface”The interface keeps your workspace clean while giving you quick access to advanced mapping features. Here is a quick tour of what is on your screen:
1. The Main Header Actions
Section titled “1. The Main Header Actions”The top control bar features a set of quick action buttons:
- Site Plan View vs. Topology View Toggle: Switch between your visual Site Plan map layout and a clean, schematic Topology connection diagram.
- Lock Interactivity Button: Click the lock icon to freeze your map. When locked, all drawing and layout tools are disabled to prevent accidental changes while reviewing.
- Undo and Redo Buttons: Quick arrow buttons to reverse your last action or bring it back.
- Previews Button: Opens a grid view showing an estimated look at what each camera sees, laid out just like a real security DVR screen. You can also capture test pictures here.
- Elements Button: Opens a dropdown menu (on a computer) or a bottom sheet (on mobile) where you can hide or show different layers of your map. Turning elements on or off here will also change how your exports look.
- Save Button: Saves your progress manually.
- Export Button: Exports your complete layout as a clean image file (PNG) or document (PDF).
- Clear All Button: Clears the entire canvas if you need to start fresh.
2. Managing Multiple Site Plans
Section titled “2. Managing Multiple Site Plans”Right next to the page title, you will see your current site plan name with a small arrow pointing down (a chevron).
Clicking or tapping this area opens a menu dropdown that lets you manage your plans:
- Switch between different site plans.
- Create completely new blank site plans.
- Rename your current site plan.
- Delete unneeded site plans.
3. Left Configuration Panel
Section titled “3. Left Configuration Panel”The left side of your screen holds the configuration panel. It lets you see and change the details behind your drawings:
- Track Configurations: View and change settings for your connected routes and** **devices.
- Route Details: See which cables connect your devices, check route paths, and manage connections.
- Measurements and Assignments: Check estimated route lengths or manually enter and set exact measurements for your route segments. You can also assign enclosures to specific route segments directly from this panel.
4. Bottom Toolbar
Section titled “4. Bottom Toolbar”The drawing board features an inline toolbar running along the bottom edge of your map canvas. This is where you grab your active tools to drop components, draw routes, place connectors, or zoom in and out of your grid canvas.
