Tools
The Tools page provides a collection of built-in calculators designed to help you plan your security system installations. These tools help you figure out camera lens requirements, storage space needs, power budgets, and other technical details on the fly.
How to Open Tools
Section titled “How to Open Tools”You can open the Tools dashboard from anywhere in the app:
- Click on Tools (the four-square grid icon) near the bottom of your left-hand sidebar menu.
- Tap Tools (the four-square grid icon) directly from the bottom navigation bar.
Available Calculators
Section titled “Available Calculators”The page displays a grid of dedicated calculators. Simply click or tap any card to open that tool:
- Calculator: A basic calculator for doing quick math on the spot.
- Lens Calculator: Helps you figure out camera pixel density and how far away a camera can reliably detect objects or faces.
- FOV Calculator: Calculates the exact field of view coverage you will get depending on the camera lens you choose.
- Lighting Calculator: Helps you check the minimum light (lux) requirements for your cameras and plan your infrared (IR) illuminator coverage for night vision.
- Disk Calculator: Figures out how much hard drive storage space you need based on your camera counts, video quality, and retention days.
- Bandwidth Calculator: Calculates the network speed and bandwidth required to stream your cameras without lagging the client’s network.
- UPS Backup Calculator: Determines how many minutes or hours a backup battery system will last using different battery sizes.
- PoE Calculator: Calculates your total Power over Ethernet power budget and checks for power drops over long cable runs.
- Signal Quality Calculator: Helps you figure out signal loss and image quality degradation across long video cable lengths.
- Video Wall Calculator: Helps you plan multi-monitor arrangements, grid layouts, and the computer graphics hardware needed to display them.
